RemObjects
Software at Microsoft PDC2008
Just like in 2005, RemObjects Software will be present at Microsoft PDC2008
with a booth in the Expo Hall, showing off our suite of products, most
importantly
Data Abstract for .NET.
We have some great demos prepared and exciting technologies to show, so
make sure
to stop by and talk to us at booth #910. If you're interested in
Oxygene
and Delphi Prism, the guys from CodeGear will be right next to us at booth
#912
to show and give away preview disks with Delphi Prism, so make sure to
not miss
out on that, either.
From Monday to Wednesday, marc hoffman (Chief Architect), Carlo Kok (Chief
Engineer
and Compiler Architect for Oxygene) and Mike Orriss (General Project Manager)
will
be at our booth to meet with you and answer any questions about RemObjects
and our
products you might have. See you in L.A.!
Stay Up to Date
Over the course of PDC itself, we'll update this page with exciting news,
stories
and photos. Make also sure to follow marc's
and Mike's twitter feeds (see
below) for
up-to-date info on what's going on. Or look out for special episodes of
the Podcast
at Delphi.org that Jim and marc will be recording live from L.A.
Day 0 — Setup
Our booth is set up and we're all ready to go for tomorrow. Below are a
handful
of first impressions:
Day 1 — Keynote and Expo
Half way thru day one; we've seen the Ray Ozzie introduce Windows Azure,
which could
be interesting for Data Abstract and RemObjects SDK. We're also past the
first five
hours of Expo, with lots of interest in our cool new Data Abstract demos.
The guys
from Emarcadero are next door, happy passing out Prism DVDs, which are
well received
by everyone. Expo Reception, usually the busiest time for the booths, coming
up
in about an hour, now. More soon.
Expo Reception, with group shots of the Embarcadro and RemObjects guys
and Mark
Miller & Mini Me introducing their new CodeRush express:
Day 2
Instead of more photos, below is a look at some of the new demos we've
prepared
and are showing here at PDC, which are part of a larger and more unified
set of
new samples that will ship with one of the next versions of DA. First there
is our
sample server application, with a nice and rich WPF based GUI that shows
exactly
what is going on, how field mappings are applied, what SQL code is run, etc.
Second,
we have our DA SQL sample client, followed lastly by a WinForms based client
that
demonstrates some of the more advanced data access options:
Windows 7 — A first look
A couple of screenshots of Windows 7 Build 6801 as handed out as part of
"the
goods" on a 160GB USB harddrive, today. Unfortunately, it seems that
most of
the UI enhancements that were shown at the keynote today, such as the new
Dock-like
task bar, are not in this build yet; after install is complete, it very
much looks
and feels like Vista with a few very minor tweaks (such as a nicer Start
Menu rendering
and the strealined Notification area).
